Additional acquisitions from PA

Acquisitions for "Sterling & Pervert's Museum of all that can be called Just So"

An addendum to yesterday’s post involving the cherry seeding machine; here are additional acquisitions from the same trip to Pennsylvania: primarily photographs, plus one small book. A fair number of photos of youngsters. I generally base my decisions on quality; whether as a photograph pure and simple (composition, exposure, print quality, etc), or on how interesting the portrait itself is in terms of character,  expression, etc. When it comes to a Daguerrotype in the leather and velvet framed locket case, well those are just amazing objects, so as long as the image is clear and decent, almost any will do. A slew of images after the jump.

These children are all so serious, so stoic for the camera. Fantastic.

I love the dynamics in this family portrait.
(Also: the boy’s outfit could be nicely adapted for the modern woman.)
