Three Shillings. To counterfeit is Death

Here is a detail of a three-shilling note (facsimile); one of several found in the “Interpretive Center” building of the Minisink Battleground on the banks of the Delaware River, near Narrowsburg, NY. We were up that way over the weekend to visit Ben’s family for the weekend, and a bunch of us hiked up the (surprisingly steep) hill to walk through the battleground.

Also:  some views of the Roebling Aqueduct– Roebling’s suspension prototype prior to designing the Brooklyn Bridge; it was originally intended to get barges from the NY section of the canal across the river to continue in the canal on the PA side. These are views from the deck of where we stayed; a riverside building beautifully refurbished by Ben’s sister and brother-in-law– the Roebling View. Such an amazing spot. The weekend went by too quickly.

Note: the river isn’t normally brown at all, but was flooded with silt on account of the release of a dam farther upriver on account of all the rain this summer.
